Facebook Movie Poster Announces 500 Million Facebook Users Before Facebook Does

Given all the recent privacy uproar over Facebook, this Fall’s Facebook movie, The Social Network (adapted for the screen by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher), is going to be all the more interesting. Today, the first official poster for the movie has been unveiled on the movie’s website .

Facebook Engineer: Key Issue Slowing Down Graph API with PHP SDK Fixed

Last week, we posted some data from developers who have been seeing very slow performance with basic parts of Facebook’s new Graph API with the latest version of Facebook’s PHP SDK. Since then, Facebook has let us know that they are working on resolving the problems, and yesterday Facebook Platform engineer Naitik Shah let us know that he has committed a fix to the Facebook PHP SDK that addresses a key issue slowing the SDK down.

Appbistro Lands Wildfire For Its Facebook App Market

Last month at TechCrunch Disrupt, we saw the launch of Appbistro , a marketplace for Facebook tab applications that help companies and brands flesh out their Facebook Pages. Developers like it because it gives them an easy way to charge for their applications using Appbistro’s payments system (previously there wasn’t an easy way to charge for Facebook apps). And today, Appbistro is announcing that it’s landed a deal to distribute Facebook apps from a significant new partner: Wildfire Interactive

Scribd’s Decision To Dump Flash Pays Off, User Engagement Triples

Like Button Boosts Blog Traffic – Six Apart’s blog platform, TypePad,  reported this week that the installation of Facebook’s new Like Button boosted bloggers’ referral traffic by up to 50%. Adding the Like button for the post footer, which gave users the chance to Like and share on Facebook, boosted traffic for some up to 200%. Facebook, Localeze, Localization – Facebook may have  struck a deal with Localeze , right after the company premiered Twitter Places with Twitter to add venues to geolocation updates

CrowdStar Runs Its Own Virtual Goods Campaign to Help Out with the Oil Spill

As crude oil continues to poor from the hole in the earth down in the Gulf of Mexico, social developers have been launching various campaigns to help out. Just today, however, CrowdStar started their own efforts to raise funds within their popular Facebook application, Zoo Paradise , in a campaign dubbed “ CrowdStar Cares . ” Reaching over 4.6 million monthly active users within Zoo Paradise (out of nearly 40 million across all their titles), the social game maker has launched a new virtual zoo animal called the Golden Sea Turtle
