Wildfire is launching a Groupon or LivingSocial Deals-style application on Facebook this week, called Group Deals. It’s designed to allow brand Page administrators to set up group promotions on a Facebook Page within a matter of minutes, then get their discount offers shared among friends.

Hardly a day goes by when we don’t hear about a new Android-based tablet in some ever-so-slightly-new size, configuration, or spec. Chances are that every PC manufacturer out there is going to have one, and chances are they’ll all be more or less interchangeable — like the Windows 7 tablets that they often announce at the same time.

During the Q&A session at the end of Apple’s Q3 earnings call , Apple COO Tim Cook fielded some questions about Apple’s new iPhone 4 product. Not surprisingly, there were a few about the antenna and the swirling controversy .

Google Energy today announced an agreement to purchase 114 megawatts of wind power per year for 20 years at a set price from an Iowa wind farm owned and operated by NextEra Energy Resources. A Google spokesperson Jamie Yodd noted, “This is the first contract for Google Energy

The textbook buying space is heating up today as Borders debuts its new “Borders Textbook Marketplace.” The Marketplace features more than 1.4 million titles including used textbooks at savings of up to 90 percent, says the company. Students can sell used books on the site as well. The Marketplace, which was created in partnership with book seller platform Alibris, includes text books from college, high school, middle and elementary school as other titles often used in classrooms.

Of all the stellar numbers Apple released today with their Q3 2010 earnings, the most impressive has to be this: Apple sold 3.27 million iPads during the quarter. To put that into context, that’s only 200,000 fewer units than their entire Mac division sold.

In news that should surprise no one by now — Apple once again had a stellar quarter and blew past Wall Street estimates for Q3 2010. Just as with Q1 and Q2 of this year, Apple has been doing so well thanks largely to the iPhone. But unlike those quarters, Apple now has an important new product adding money to their bottom line: the iPad (the iPad had been released just prior to the closing of Q2).
