Mark Suster: Raise Money Now So When The Party’s Over You’re Sitting Pretty

Earlier this week GRP Parter VC and VC blogger Mark Suster gave the keynote talk at the Founder Institute’s Founder’s Showcase on “Getting Funded In A Frothy Market.” Suster began the keynote with the declarative statement that we’re in a bubble, “We’re in a bubble, you can quote me on that and I generally haven’t been saying that publicly,” he affirmed.

Earbits Snags $605K From Y Combinator, Charles River Ventures And Others

Online radio startup Earbits (YC Winter 2011) is announcing a seed round of funding today, having snatched up $605K from Y Combinator , Charles River Ventures , Start Fund and former Lala CEO Geoff Ralston . Earbits is unique in that its closest competitor is the newly IPOd Pandora from the listener’s side but from the musician’s side the model is completely different. Founder Joey Flores likens the site to payola 2.0

U.S. Trade Commission Gives The Green Light To Microsoft’s $8.5 Billion Cash Takeover Of Skype

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said today that it has approved Microsoft’s $8.5 billion cash takeover of voice and video-over-IP provider Skype. Microsoft officially announced its intent to acquire Skype back on May 10 and, since then, users have been taking to Twitter to blame Microsoft for Skype’s intermittent service.
