I love hardware. That’s why I want you guys to bring some of the coolest hardware projects imaginable to Disrupt NY this year. That’s why I want you guys in our Hardware Alley. And now time is running out.
Hardware Alley is a one-day celebration of hardware startups both young and old. The goal has always been to show off amazing hardware that we have written about over the past few months, as well as a few surprises. Last Disrupt we featured the guys from Thermovape, Makerbot, and Lit Motors. This year we want to fill Disrupt NY with more amazing companies.
We will close applications shortly, so hurry hurry. We’re nearly full as it is.
For more details on Disrupt head over here. We’re looking for new or even unlaunched products, as well as potential Kickstarter projects. Prototypes are fine as long as they’re amazing.
You can see the previous Hardware Alley participants here. You can sign up here. Bootstrappers can contact me directly at john@techcrunch.com if you need a break on price. Hope to see you in the alley… the Hardware Alley.
Our sponsors help make Disrupt happen. If you are interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact our amazing sponsorship team here sponsors@techcrunch.com.

It’s day one at CES and we’re already churning away at our live video stream from the show floor and, for those looking for a nice recap, our daily Gadgets Live webcasts. At 1pm PST/4PM EST we’ll sit down and talk about what we’ve seen so far – the winners, the losers, and the mayhem.
The best part? We’ll be interviewing Matt Rogers from Nest (and giving away a Nest thermostat and you at home can win!) and we’ll also be sitting down with the folks from Tovbot and a few more surprises.
This is a long show and we’re trying to bring you the coolest hardware startups we can find. If you’d like to be featured, please drop me a line at john@techcrunch.com and be sure to tweet at us with the hashtag #CESCrunch. Stay tuned for more from the greatest tech show on Earth.

Sure, it’s a bit early but we’ve been saving up gadgets and gizmos a-plenty for you all and we’re ready to share some of the coolest hardware, gear, and geegaws with you and yours. The goal is to get up a few mini-reviews per day of the things we liked the most this year including indie hardware from small manufacturers.
Instead of the typical list of TVs, MP3 players, and electronic detritus we’ll also feature books, music, and fun stuff for all.
While we’re pretty much full right now, if you have anything you’d like us to feature email john@techcrunch.com and we’ll see what we can do. Otherwise, feel free to take a break from your regular diet of web services news and hard-hitting examinations of Groupon’s demise with the Werther’s Originals of tech news – gadget reviews.
We’ll have giveaways for the next month so keep your eye on our posts over the next few weeks. Ho, ho, ho, as they say.

Chicago: Home of Groupon, the White Sox and a massive, odd silver bean thing. But soon, specifically on November 9th, Chicago will play host to a TechCrunch meetup. As the last stop on TechCrunch’s Northern Meetup Tour, we’re very excited to conclude with a Friday night party in the Windy City. Admission and booze are free. Come on out to the Zhou B Art Center and talk tech and startups with TechCrunch!
As part of our Northern Meetup Tour, during which we’ll hit up Toronto, Chicago, and of course Detroit, we’re on the hunt for the latest and greatest startups, the coolest investors, and the best possible conversation we can have. Tickets sold out quickly for Toronto and there are only a few left for Detroit. RSVP as soon as possible for Chicago.
Prior to the meetup, we are holding office hours with local startups and entrepreneurs. Look for the registration next week.
We’re still looking for sponsors for this meetup and also upcoming ones in Detroit and Toronto. If you’d like to sponsor one or all of these fantastic gatherings, or know someone that should, shoot a message to our amazing sponsorship team here. For general meetup questions, please email our awesome events team here.
RSVP now!

Some folks we met in Charlotte had a mission: they wanted to win a contest (sponsored by Red Bull) for the coolest Arduino project in the land. I think they may have nailed it. The project, built by engineers and designers for Edison Nation, turns an ordinary desk into a booze-infused party zone when the clock hits five (or when you slap the Swingline stapler.)
The project has been submitted to the Red Bull website and the guys could use your help getting to the top so they can head out to the 2012 Maker Faire in NYC.
Sadly the Red Bull website is an absolute mess and there is no visible means of voting, but if you figure it out, give these guys a nod. It’s not every day that you see a system that can turn an office into a red-hot, robotic bar.

TechCrunch Disrupt is all about start-ups but we often give short shrift to hardware-based companies. Well, that’s about to change because we’re now running Hardware Alley, a one day exhibition of some of the coolest hardware start-ups in NY and beyond.
Running a Kickstarter project? Building a better mousetrap? Creating something cool out of scrap metal and wires? Register as a Hardware Alley exhibitor. You’ll get admission on the last day of Disrupt, May 23, a table to show off your goods, and access to some of the most interesting people (and most interesting VCs) in the world. We’d love to have you.
Email Matt Burns (matt@techcrunch.com) with the subject of “I Want To Be In Hardware Alley” for more pricing and more information. He also likes cats gifs. There is a limited amount of space so hit him up quickly.
- TechCrunch will provide a 24″ round cocktail height table, linens, signage, 3 amps of power and WiFi internet connectivity to Hardware Alley companies.
- Hardware Alley attendees set up at 7AM on Wednesday May 23rd.
- LOCATION: Pier 94 in Midtown Manhattan

I get to give away lots of cool stuff on MobileCrunch… but this might be the coolest thing we’ve given away yet.
This morning, Qualcomm began selling an Android device called the Snapdragon MDP MSM8660. This thing is, in a sense, a glimpse of the future. Built on top of a dual-core, 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon CPU, the crazy fast Adreno 220 graphics chip, and sporting a 13 megapixel camera, the MDP is primarily meant for developers to get a head start on the tech that’ll be hitting handsets later this year.
As you might expect, this thing doesn’t come cheap. If you were to buy it direct from Qualcomm, it’d set you back $1,350. Win it from us, however, and it won’t cost you a dime.
Find out how to win at MobileCrunch >>
